11th March 2004 Kite surfing: cape town Wind Direction: mainly southerly Wind Stength: 15 to 30knots Surf / Sea State: flat to huge Air Temperature: late 28'C to 30's Sea Temperature: lovely Weather: shorts and helmet Max Speed: Distance Covered: yes just got back yesterday from 15 days of a pure dream.only where i stayed was the net pre war and was taking 15mins just to log on to hotmail so i will give everyone who is interested an idea of what you missed here. started out at table bay or big bay /kitebeach as they call it;the one you see in the photos with table mountain in the distance.only prob water cold!!!!! after 4 days we moved to our flat in the strand; flase bay indian ocean, WARM WATER .only missed 2 days as the wind went s.e. gusting up to 40knots but still the sun was shinning;all the locals went over to kite beach where on saturday there were counted 80+ kites obn the water and loads more on the beach( it is a few miles long).me being a wimp waited till the next day when it came back on shore and out i went in my shorts and helmet.....................heaven! i took my 145 cm mad eel board and 10mtr and 8.4mtr airblasts which was just perfect; could have done with the 7.1 free air sometimes but just hung on in there. all the locals are really friendly and helpfull and boy are they good,you never hear of them because they dont compete;but beleive me if they did watch out!! accomodation across the road from the beach, three bed flat with two on suite about £25 per night for the whole flat,shame Goeff didnt make it out.BUT YOU DO NEED TRANSPORT IF YOU LIVE AWAY FROM THE BEACH there is no public transport as such just taxis and hire cars.now the important things; wine £3 for a 5 ltre box, pint and large glass of wine in the pub £1. great meal in the restaurant usually about £2.50 . IT IS THEE PLACE TO GO FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! if you need more info about where i stayed etc drop me a mail neilsunderland@hotmail.com |
